How Electronic Visit Verification Protects Clients and Agencies from Fraud

Medicaid is designed to give financial assistance to those in need of medical treatment. There are specific programs in Medicaid that allow aging people and the disabled to receive non-medical help at home. However, there are far too many incidents reported around the country where care takers simply collect the checks and fail to provide services. For recipients of care, their loved ones, and care professionals, home care fraud rightly causes alarm. In order to protect home care clients, the Federal government now requires electronic visit verification.

What is Electronic Visit Verification?

Electronic visit verification (EVV) requires an employee to check in at the client’s home using their laptop, tablet or mobile phone. This check in creates an electronic record, indicating when the person arrived and when they left. Features of effective EVV software include GPS tracking to ensure the employee is at the proper address, and two-way verification, in which the client must electronically verify sign off to prevent the employee from simply checking in and out without rendering services.

Direct Care Innovations: EVV Software

DCI software solutions are ahead of the EVV curve, as we designed and implemented these features to protect clients and providers before the government mandated EVV implementation. Using passwords, PINs, biometrics or some combination thereof, you can verify your clients’ identities when they sign off on services to prevent abuse and avoid audits. Our software is compatible with mobile devices, and our modules can be integrated with each other and with your existing systems. Call (480) 295-3307 today for a demo!
